5 Easy-to-Plan Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

Yes, we get it. After months and months of planning for your dream wedding, now that it is finally here you and your husband-to-be get to realize that you still have a rehearsal dinner to plan. We feel you and we know what you mean, you’ve been slaving all day and night for the actual wedding day yet there is another event that still has to be planned right before the big day. Seems impossible, right?

Keep calm and worry no more because we have a couple of ideas that will definitely do the trick. Be it for a huge crowd or a small intimate dinner party, these rehearsal dinner themes are no-fuss and fool-proof – leaving you to enjoy the rest of the festivities in the company of your loved ones.

Backyard BBQ.

You can never go wrong with a simple backyard barbecue party because for one, who hates BBQ? Assign the men to take charge of the grill and the booze while you and the girls set up the tables, drinks, and whatever add-ons you can think of. Step it up a notch with a s’mores bar for those chilly evenings under the stars and also a beer tub for everyone to indulge in as well.

Get a Private Chef.

If you are looking into a simple sit-down dinner at home or at a rented place near the venue, hiring a private chef to do all the prep work in the kitchen is a perfect solution. It frees you for the night so you and your fiance get to enjoy a memorable meal with your family and friends. Let the chef know any allergy information and dietary restrictions any family member might have in advance and then the chef can create a meal personalized to the occasion, the seasonal produce, and even complement what you have in store for the wedding day itself. You get to enjoy five-star cuisine while in the comforts of your very own home, what a lovely treat to wind down such a busy day!

Pizza Party.

Call up a couple of pizza joints and have them deliver a couple of their finest options. This is especially made for those last-minute emergency dinners so it might as well work for rehearsal dinners too. Try to bring it to the next level by ordering a couple of salads for the health-conscious and also get a donut station working at the side, for those with the sweet tooth.

Rehearsal breakfast.

Whoever said rehearsal dinners had to always be a dinner? Switch it up and serve brunch for your closest friends and family members. If you feel that a dinner might be too stiff for the people to mingle, invite them over during the morning and get everybody introduced. You’ll be pleasantly surprised if some uncles of both sides hit it off and spend the entire today together or if the ladies decide to go out for afternoon tea together later on the day.

Potluck.

For a family of great cooks, throwing together a potluck rehearsal dinner is a no-brainer. A great way for both sides of the bride and the groom to get to know each family’s heritage is through their famous dishes and prized recipes. Have them bring their beloved creations and let the tasting begin! Everybody gets to sample the family’s own secret recipes, which makes great conversation starters within the older aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins.
