How to Get Your Groom Involved

In any wedding celebration, the bride and the groom and their union are the main focus of the day. All the ceremonial rights and the endless merry-making are all dedicated to the new union made by the bride and groom as they transition into husband and wife.

During the wedding planning, however, it is common for the bride to hold the reins and take command of anything and everything that has to do with the wedding day. But it’s getting more and more common for the groom to take an interest in the wedding talk. After all, it’s the groom’s day as well and the bride can use all the help she can get.

So if you are wondering on how to entice the groom into joining the wedding planning committee or if you are looking into delegating a wedding-related task to him to ease up your own load as the bride, here are a couple of tips to help you out.

What Does He Like?

First off, get to learn and actually consider what the groom’s interests and hobbies are and try to contrast it to what he does not like. Being allergic to blooms automatically crosses him off the decorations committee while having a sweet tooth would definitely qualify him to join the cake tasting appointment. Being able to match the groom’s own expertise and interests with the various activities involved in wedding planning will make accomplishing the tasks more enjoyable.

Yes to Fun.

Of course, assigning the easiest and safest tasks to the groom and his groomsmen might just be the first instinct of the bride. Menial tasks such as inserting the invites into the envelope and attaching the tags onto the favors might seem to be too boring for the boys to gang up on a lazy Saturday night. However, if you assign them something that would be fun and beneficial for them, it might just do the trick. Signing the gang up for beer tasting is a perfect example, they get to hang out while you get to check off the bar menu on your to-do list. Win-win for everyone.

Two-in-one.

Instead of assigning tasks for the groom, why not go to the appointments together? Going out for date night can be switched into an afternoon of doing the gift registry, with both of you getting your own fair share of the registry list. Seeing a movie? Spend a cozy night at home and watch sample reels of the wedding videographers so you both get to choose which one to hire.  You’ll get wedding tasks done in no time and he might not even notice it.

Simply Ask.

When all else fails, why not do it the easy way and ask for his help. Get to hear what he has to say on the matter and ask him on what he would want to do to help out. After all, it is his day as well and it is the right time to try and accomplish matters like this as a team.
